 Prostate Quiz

Do you like taking those quizzes in magazines?  Yes, I thought you might – I do too!  So, in the spirit of both fun and learning, I thought I would put together a little quiz for you to complete.  Afterall, all of us like to learn how to spell words correctly, right?  We also like to feel smart and feel like we are learning something, right?  Hopefully, this quiz will accomplish both of these goals.

This quiz will focus on a subject of immense importance to some very special people in our lives.  Answers will be posted throughout the article, so you will know right away if you are correct.
So, are you ready?  Let’s begin!

1. Make a choice! The correct spelling is:
a protrate
b) prostrate
c) portrate
d) prostraight
e) prostate

2. Where, and in whom, does this little organ reside?
a) In the pelvis; men
b) In the pelvis; men and women
c) In the pelvis; women
d) In the rectum; men
e) In the rectum; men and women

3. What does this organ do?
a) holds semen
b) provides nutrient fluids
c) largely unknown
d) holds ovum
e) causes sexual arousal

4. What happens when this organ becomes diseased?
a) it grows small and doesn’t work
b) it grows larger and pushes on the urethra
c) it gets itchy
d) it causes constipation
e) it goes to sleep

It is okay to check the answers now, and then we can talk about the solutions.
(The answers are: 1-e; 2-a; 3-b; 4-b)

As you might have already figured out, we are talking about the prostate and what is knows as “benign prostatic hypertrophy,” also known as BPH.  You probably already know that prostate problems are common. In fact, it is likely that the most common reason men get up at night is that they have obstructed urination as a result of BPH, which means they can’t fully empty their bladder. This common problem often leads to poor sleep, irritability, marital discord and even divorce. Preventing or fixing the problem is certainly a good and reasonable goal to shoot for.

In my opinion, the best treatment for BPH is one that heals safely, quickly and completely.  If treatment isn’t given, the prostate gets larger and may develop fibrosis (scarring), and even cancer.
There are lots of medical approaches to BPH, including expensive drugs and surgical options. Some use lasers, dilators, or fancy probes with heat or cold “end tips”. These types of treatment are done everyday. But, wouldn’t it be nicer if you could do something natural, such as with herbs or other nutrients?

With that thought in mind, here is one more question for you to ponder:

5. What natural products are known to help with BPH?
a) saw palmetto berry extract
b) pygeum
c) pumpkin seed oil
d) stinging nettle root
e) lycopene
f) zinc
g) vitamin B6
h) none of the above
i) all of the above

The answer is “i”.  All of these natural and healthful ingredients have been clinically proven to help reduce the symptoms of BPH.  For best results, I recommend that they are taken in combination.
So tonight, if you are a man, before you become prostrate, think prostate!  Be a pro. Know the “state of the art” natural treatment for prostate. Have a strong and perfect flow. And forget the get-ups in the middle of night.
