Be a Pro Regarding the State of Your Prostate

What small male gland lies behind the bladder and often becomes enlarged? What small male gland is receiving more attention because of its tendency to become cancerous? What small male gland is essential for optimal sexual health? What is its name?

It is your incredible, indispensable prostate! Many of us mix up the words “prostate” and
“prostrate.” Prostrate is the position of lying down, or what you do when you are sleeping. Unfortunately, neither lying down nor sleeping will be satisfying if your prostate is unhealthy, enlarged, scarred or cancerous. If your prostate is sick, you probably will be up and down at night; the prostate’s pressure on the back of the bladder leads to frequent urination.

Here are some important facts you need to know about your prostate:

■ Enlarged and scarred (full of fibrosis) prostate glands are common—50 percent of men over 50 years are afflicted. The percentage increases as you get older. This condition is called benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) As far as symptoms go, “Bothersome Prostatic Hypertrophy” would be just as appropriate.

■ Effective nutrients can prevent and improve this problem, including saw palmetto and juniper berry extracts. Also nutritious and clinically proven to help are the seeds from the flax and pumpkin plants, the herb pygeum, and the mineral zinc picolinate.

■ The prostatic muscles work with your bladder to control urine flow, reduce spasms, and help the bladder empty completely.

■ A good night’s sleep = a healthy prostate = better health. An unhealthy prostate = a bad night’s sleep = a variety of health problems, including burned-out adrenal glands.

■ If you get up frequently at night to urinate, you will pay a health price. As you probably already know, a bad night’s sleep also equals a bad mood.

■ A normally functioning prostate gland is essential for optimal sexual health because the secretions of the prostate feed into the seminal vesicles, providing nutrition for the sperm.

■ A healthy prostate needs optimal mineral support, especially from the minerals zinc and copper. Both are important for their roles in building proteins and enzyme functions. So, what do I suggest to improve the condition of your prostate gland? First and foremost, get checked! Your physician is trained to palpate your prostate.

If BPH or early cancer is detected, it often can be cured. Your physician probably will measure a blood protein called your PSA (Prostatic Specific Antigen). If present in high quantity, it is associated with prostate cancer.

Second, learn all you can about safe and natural remedies that have been clinically shown to improve prostate health; begin taking them on a regular basis.

Don’t let BPH ruin your life! Learn about natural supplements, then add them to your daily routine. This is one condition you can help prevent.
