Waiting to Heal Takes Knowledgeable Patience

Healing Response – Principle 11: Every Action is followed first by a Reaction, then a Response. Our holistic bodies do things that we don’t understand. We often react doing things we shouldn’t do, and we end up worse off.

Have Knowledgeable Patience
When a healthy child gets sick, the force of their healing response can be breathtaking for one with knowledgeable patience. Alternatively, it can be frightening for one not so prone. The rash, the swollen throat and the fever leave few mothers (or dads) sitting patiently on their hands secure in that knowledge that this is the normal healing process.

There is a quandary here. We have so many pills and 24/7 emergency rooms. We get antsy. We don’t know what to do. Some of us sit back pondering whether the adage is “Feed the fever and starve the cold, or starve the fever and feed the cold?”

The succinct point is that when acute illness comes, embrace it. A little extra rest, adequate hydration, relaxing music will usually be sufficient. If you rush things, often you pay dearly. Taking antibiotics when they are not needed will causes diarrhea and mal-absorption. It may cause secondary infection with yeast, or worse – clostridia. Suppressing fever often lengthens the illness in that fever is the body’s way of sterilizing the terrain. Cough medicine and bronchodilators have side effects. Sometimes they are needed, but again, use caution. A vaporizer and story may be superior.

‘Knowledgeable patience’ is the healing response that  requires we give the body ample time to heal itself.
